LISTEN: Josh Duhamel’s conversation with Kevin Flynn and Hayden Smith
HOLLYWOOD – The blockbuster movie series that launched the career of North Dakota native Josh Duhamel didn’t appeal to him at first.
“When I first heard that they were going to make a modern version of Transformers, I thought it was going to be a terrible idea. And then they showed me the artwork they had and plans for this new imagined idea. Then I understood it was going to be cool,” Duhamel said on “What’s On Your Mind?” on The Flag.
Duhamel recently went to the Fargo Film Festival to showcase his film “Preschool” which he directed and starred in. It follows two determined fathers who engage in a battle to enroll their kids in an elite preschool.
Duhamel also directed and starred in “Buddy Games” and “Buddy Games: Spring Awakening”. He said he prefers to act or direct, but needed to do both in order to get “Preschool” made.
“If you’re in front of the camera, you’re not able to properly direct it as if I would if I was just sitting in front of a monitor adjusting the camera or the performances. As and actor, you’re thinking of directing while you’re acting,” Duhamel explained.
“Preschool” is available to rent or own on digital platforms.
