Moorhead Mosque Vandal Gets Probation, No Added Jail Time

(Moorhead, MN) -- The man responsible for spray painting hate speech on a local religious building will serve no more jail time.

A Clay County judge sentenced Benjamin Enderle to five years of supervised probation, along with 40 hours of community service with a minority group, mandatory participation in a restorative justice program, and Enderle is prohibited from ever owning a firearm.

The 22-year-old was caught on security cameras outside of the Moorhead Fargo Islamic Center Mosque off 12th Avenue South on April 24th using red spray paint to write the hate messages on the building.

Enderle apologized for his actions in court Friday morning and asked those in the community to forgive him. He had mentioned in previous testimony he spray painted on the building as a joke, and to get a rise out of the community.
