(Detroit Lakes, MN) -- A Detroit Lakes man is officially part of the first-ever all-Black American expedition to the peak of Mount Everest.
Officials say Eddie Taylor is one of nine Black climbers who will attempt to reach the top of Everest next year.
In a statement, Taylor says he hopes the move will encourage the Black community to explore nature.
The 70-day expedition begins next March.
