Fargo Man Asks for Outsider Trial in Police Shooting Case

(Waukesha, WI) -- A North Dakota man who is charged with shooting and injuring two police officers in the Milwaukee area is asking for a jury selection outside the county where the alleged incident happened.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports attorneys for Nathanael Benton of Fargo made the request in Wisconsin appeals court last week.

They said coverage of the November 2020 shooting in Delafield has created a local bias. A change of venue request for Benton's attempted murder trial was denied in August.

A decision on the jury request is expected in a month.
