(Fargo, ND) -- Pro golfer and Fargo resident Tom Hoge has reason to celebrate after finishing in 2nd place Sunday at the American Express in La Quinta, California.

"You know I've been working really hard the past few months I would say to try to push to that next level and take my game up a notch and start competing with some of these big name guys.  For me, it's just kind of validation that what I've been working on is paying off," said Hoge.

Hoge talked about his second place finish Monday morning while appearing on "What's on your Mind" with Scott Hennen on AM 1100 The Flag.  The 2007 graduate of Fargo South takes home $828,000 in prize money. That adds to his nearly $7.8 million dollars in career earnings.  Hoge finished the tournament 21 under par, two strokes behind winner Hudson Swaffer.  Hoge is set begin to play Wednesday at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.
