(West Fargo, ND) -- The West Fargo School Board is discussing a staffing shortage.

The group met Monday, talking about averaging 144 teachers and faculty absent every day. Last year's average was 90 per day. Only about 77 substitutes have been available each day.

Superintendent Beth Slette says the district is weighting its options.

In the meantime, the district continues to talk about moving boundary lines ahead of the completion of another elementary school in Fall of 2023. Officials says both Freedom and Independence schools are headed towards being at full capacity, which may lead to students having to be moved around.

The board will hold another special meeting next Monday, February 7th, to try and further iron out the details.
