Moorhead man sentenced for distributing child porn

MINNEAPOLIS – A Moorhead man has been sentenced to ten years in prison for distributing child pornography. Joey David Gonzales, 36, was also given 15 years of supervised release. He was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis. According to court documents, Gonzales used email and other online media to advertise, solicit, and trade images and videos depicting the sexual exploitation of children. The crimes took place between Feb. 2016 and Aug. 2020. Gonzales pleaded guilty to one count.

The FBI, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and the Becker County Sheriff’s Office were all involved in investigating the case.

This case was brought forward as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
