(Grand Forks, ND) -- A University of North Dakota professor is on paid leave.

A university spokesman announced Monday that Eric Murphy was placed on paid leave January 20th while an investigation into a matter "involving his employment" takes place.

Murphy is an associate professor of biomedical sciences. He is also the CEO/CSO of sports drink company Krampade and is a Republican candidate for a District 43 legislative seat.

The university didn't comment on why Murphy was placed on leave.
