(Fargo, ND) -- Members of a regional volunteer dive team joined numerous other first responders and similar agencies at a yearly exposure event.

Volunteers of Valley Water Rescue were in attendance at West Fargo's Night to Unite to share information about the services they provide to the public. Valley Water Rescue President Pete Fendt says the 29-year-old organization works to fill a unique role in the community.

"We dive year round. Our divers are not only trained to dive in black water - water like the Red River where you can't see anything and all the searches are done by feel, to being able to do that same search, cutting a hole in the ice and putting a diver in under the ice, to be able to do a search as well." said Fendt.

Fendt says the organization is looking for more people to assist them with local services. He stresses anyone can join, saying the group is looking for non-divers as well.

"We are always looking for more people, "said Fendt, "We have search and support people that don't have to be divers, they just assist with dressing the divers [and] helping with the searchers."
