Representative Michelle Fischbach supports Kevin McCarthy's bid for House Speaker; targets "out of control" spending

(Fargo, ND) -- Minnesota Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach says she supports the bid by Kevin McCarthy to become the next Speaker of the House.

"You know the most important part that we've got to remember when we're talking about the speakership, first of all that we get to talk about it. We're going to be electing a republican speaker. We did what we talked about and that is firing Nancy Pelosi and so we've got to remember that we are the majority and that is a great place to be," said Fischbach.

A small group of conservative house members currently oppose McCarthy's bid for house speaker, leaving in question whether he'll have enough votes. The vote is set to take place January 3rd.

Fischbach also discussed priorities for republicans once they take control of the House.

"I will say Farm Bill, making sure that that's passed on time, but we've also got, you know we've got to stop the spending, stop the out of control spending because that is not doing any good for our economy. We've got to look at the southern border, making sure that we are taking care of that and we are shutting that down and securing our country, and energy independence," said Fischbach.
