Former inmate credits Cass County Jail Chaplains for helping turn his life around

(Fargo, ND) -- A former inmate is talking about the difference Cass County Jail Chaplains made in his life.

"The only thing I can say is God must have had a plan for me because the route and the road I was going on, and I remember the cop tell me that one time, he's like I'm arresting one to save you, and I'm like, I don't feel that way," said Shawn Gibree.

Gibree spent time in federal prison and had several stays at the Cass County Jail as a result of drug-related convictions and offenses. He credits the faith-based support from the chaplains program along with their "Living Free" classes for helping him turn his life around. Today he owns and operates Babb's Coffee House in downtown Fargo, and provides support to other inmates.

"They gave me a Life Recovery Bible, and you know it's scripture and addiction put into one thing. They use God as part of the recovery process with twelve steps," said Gibree.
