(Moorhead, MN) -- The Moorhead Police Department is searching for a suspect in a stabbing this week.

Officers tell WDAY Radio the incident happened Tuesday at 9:40 p.m. when they were dispatched to the 400 block of 17th street south. The adult male victim told Moorhead PD he went outside his home and found an unidentified man standing by his car in the driveway. That's when the victim and suspect exchanged words, leading to a physical confrontation resulting in the victim being stabbed in his left side. The suspect then fled westbound while the victim called 911 himself.

The 41-year-old man that was stabbed suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Essentia Health.

To this point, the suspect has not been located, and neither has a weapon from the tussle. The only description the victim was able to provide was the suspect was an adult Native American male with an unknown physical or clothing description.

The stabbing is still under investigation. Area residents are asked to check their surveillance equipment to assist in obtaining a better description of the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Red River Regional Dispatch Center at (701) 451-7660 and ask to speak with on-duty Moorhead Police Supervisor.
