(Fargo, ND) -- Fargo Cass Public Health will recognize the start of National Public Health Week, April 3-9, by hosting a Spring Open House on Monday, April 3rd from 3 pm – 7 pm.

The theme for National Public Health Week is “Centering and Celebrating Cultures in Health.” The Spring Open House will take place at the main FCPH building, located at 1240 25th St S, Fargo. Activities, snacks, and an opportunity for door prizes will be available and all ages are welcome.

Public health impacts all areas of our society. By focusing on the health of the entire population, public health works to prevent disease and injury, promote wellness and healthy lifestyles, and protects community health.

"FCPH is excited to be a part of National Public Health Week 2023 by sharing program information and resources with the community, offering physical activity experiences and providing preventive screening opportunities," said Director of FCPH Desi Flemming in a statement released to WDAY Radio. “National Public Health Week allows us to highlight the many functions of public health locally, and how we align with national public health efforts."

Each day during National Public Health Week focuses on a particular public health topic. The daily theme on April 3rd is Community, a theme topic that is instrumental to the mission of FCPH.

“Our community became more familiar with public health through the pandemic due to the role FCPH played in the response," said Flemming. "We look forward to this opportunity to highlight more of our services and resources as well as engage with our community at the open house.”

Other themes for the week include Violence Prevention, Reproductive and Sexual Health, Mental Health, Rural Health, Accessibility, and Food and Nutrition. For more information on the event and on National Public Health Week, click here.
