North Dakota Representative Kelly Armstrong says "hardening schools" is a local issue

(Fargo, ND) -- North Dakota Representative Kelly Armstrong was asked about "hardening schools" following Monday's school shooting in Nashville that left 6 people dead.

"The issue on hardening schools, it has to be a local issue. I mean, you go to a rural community in North Dakota, I use Mott as an example. Their building is built early 1900s brick, all of those different issues which is very different than a new school that's been developed in Fargo. As is with most things, education-wise, these decisions should be made locally," said Armstrong.

Armstrong says decisions surrounding how to secure schools need to take place locally and include parental input.
