Nearly half of sandbag goal reached so far in Cass County, volunteers still needed

(West Fargo, ND) -- Two days in, and Cass County is almost halfway to its goal of putting together 200,000 sandbags for flood season.

Officials say 96,000 sandbags have been put together by 925 volunteers over the past two days across 2,035 volunteer hours.

Volunteers are still needed for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The numbers needed include:

Thursday, April 13th:

  • 30 people needed 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • 50 people needed 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Friday, April 14th:

  • 60 people needed 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • 60 people needed 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • 30 people needed 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, April 15th (if needed)

  • 60+ for all shifts until 5:00 p.m.

If the 200,000 isn't reached by then, more days are tentatively scheduled for next week to finish up.
