(West Fargo, ND) -- Cass County is inching closer to its sandbag goal this flood season.

County leaders tell WDAY Radio that 141,000 sandbags have been filled as of Friday morning. A total of over 1500 volunteers have given nearly 3000 hours to fill the sandbags over the past three days.

However, volunteers are still needed for Friday in the below shifts:

Friday, April 14th:

  • 50 people needed 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • 20 people needed 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

If the 200,000 sandbag goal isn't reached by Friday evening, operations will be started back up next week to hit it.

Any individual interested in volunteering can get more information and sign up online here, or call Public Information Coordinator Catlin Solum at (701) 241-5794.
