Autopsy to be conducted as Moorhead Police investigate suspicious death

(Moorhead, MN) -- A local police department is investigating a suspicious death following a welfare check conducted this morning. 

The Moorhead Police Department says the body was discovered in the 1800 block of 1st Avenue North while they were attempting to conduct a welfare check at 10:20 this morning. Officers say they found a man dead inside the apartment during the check. 

At this point in time, authorities say there is no known threat to the public. The body of the deceased is being transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. An investigation is currently underway by the Moorhead Police Department in conjunction with the Clay County Sheriff's Office and the MN Bureau of Apprehension.
