Moorhead flood update: city benefitting from everything "not happening all at once"

(Moorhead, MN) -- Moorhead City Engineer Bob Zimmerman says flooding along the Red River is causing disruptions on some roadways.

However, he says things overall in the city are in pretty good shape.

"At least in all of my years I don't know if I've ever seen a flood event where everything is kind of going on it's own and we're benefiting from not everything kind of happening all at once which would contribute to a much higher river stage on the Red (River), said Zimmerman.

Zimmerman says the 3rd Street underpass downtown is closed.

The 15th Avenue bridge is expected to close Wednesday.

Later this week, Rivershore Drive under I-94 will be closed as well.

"It's been a challenging spring obviously with this really late thaw and what I understand to be record snow depth for late April. So going into this is a little bit challenging to know what to plan for," said Zimmerman.
