Fatal accident on Red River Bridge led to temporary I-94 closure

(Update: 5:25 p.m) -- More information has been released related to the fatal crash that occurred on I-94 on the Red River bridge this morning. 

The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash happened around 11:30 a.m on Sunday. Two vehicles were traveling eastbound over the Red River Bridge when the incident occurred, but the report does not indicate if any person is at fault for the crash. 

Two vehicles and five people were involved in the crash. The driver of the first vehicle, Joseph Vital Trottier (35, West Fargo, ND) was not injured, but his passenger, Shalie Dawn Lipp (21, Breckenridge, MN) was killed in the crash. The occupants of the second vehicle include the driver, Michael John Duea (63, Savage, MN), and two passengers, Kymberli Ann Duea (58, Savage, MN), and Steven Vincent Duea (66, Ostego, MN). None of the second vehicle's occupants were injured in the crash.

As of this publication, no charges have been filed. An investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol is ongoing at this time. 

(Update: 2:15 p.m) -- I-94 between Fargo and Moorhead is open again following an accident on I-94.

(Fargo, ND) --Several eye-witnesses are reporting a major accident that has stopped traffic on I-94 over South University.

Traffic has slowed to a crawl into Moorhead and is backed up to the I-94 and I-29 tri-level. Authorities are encouraging detouring from I-94 eastbound from Fargo into Moorhead at this time due to the accident. Traffic is being diverted from I-94 at the South University Exit until further notice.

WDAY Radio is seeing multiple eye witness accounts of the accident. They say two cars are badly damaged, and some reports are claiming there is a deceased individual on the scene.
