Body discovered by Moorhead Police Department along Red River

(Moorhead, MN) -- A body was discovered along the Red River in Moorhead this afternoon. 

The discovery was announced by the Moorhead Police Department on their social media pages. The discovery happened at approximately 2.50 p.m near a walking path in Gooseberry Park near the Red River bank. Authorities say the body has been in the area for an extended period of time, but an estimate was not mentioned.

The body was transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. The department is not issuing more statements at this time. Stay with WDAY Radio as more details become available
