Name of Valley City Man Killed by Loose Rock Through Windshield Released

(WDAY) - The name of a man killed when a load of loose rock struck the windshield of his vehicle last week has been released.

Marlin Kiser of Valley City was killed on May 25 just after 8am when a 1999 Kenworth semi-truck with a belly dump trailer was northbound on State Highway 1 in Lamoure County with a load of rock.

A 2019 Dodge Ram driven by Marlin Kiser was driving southbound approaching the Kenworth. As the two vehicles neared each other the belly dump trailer released its load of rock onto the roadway. A loose rock from this load struck the windshield of the Dodge, passing through the windshield and striking the driver, Marlin Kiser.

Kiser was treated by Oakes and LaMoure Ambulance Services on scene and then transported to Oakes Hospital. Kiser died from his injuries at Oakes Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
