Horace Realtor and city council challenger Arlin Fisher wants to attract more businesses to the city

(Fargo, ND) -- Horace Realtor Arlin Fisher is talking about why he wants to take over the city council seat currently held by Stephanie Landstrom, who is now targeted in a recall election.

"About 96 percent of our taxes come from property tax. Four percent comes from sales tax. So my goal is to help try to minimize the impact to the homeowner and by doing so, I want to attract more businesses. By attracting more businesses, we have more sales tax revenue," said Fisher.

Fisher is part of a group that pushed for the recall, after Landstrom voted against renewing a tax abatement program for new homes, which more recently was renewed after another vote by the council.

Fisher describes Landstrom as anti-growth.

Landstrom asserts an abatement program is not needed to maintain growth in the city.

The recall election is set for Tuesday, August 15th.
