(Fargo, ND) -- Students from West Fargo's Liberty Middle School are being recognized as among the best public speakers in the nation.

"So basically my piece was about, it's called the World's Best Teacher by Clint Snyder and it was like about a Russian teacher, basically bullying her kids. It was a funny piece," said Eighth grader Abhi Kotala.

Kotola was awarded National Runner-Up in Humorous Interpretation at the National Speech and Debate Association's annual middle school national tournament in Phoenix.

Fellow eighth grader Norah Casas was awarded National 6th Place in "Mixed Extemp Speaking".

Coach Kelsey Johnson says she's "awed" at the student's talent and dedication.
