Sideswipe accident involving pickup and big rig leaves pontoon on westbound lane of I-94

(Fargo, ND) -- An accident involving a big rig and a pickup truck towing a pontoon came to an end with the boat resting in a westbound lane on I-94.

The crash happened in Valley City.

Captain Bryan Niewind with the North Dakota Highway Patrol says 21-year-old Fargo resident Timothy Victor was driving the pickup, and attempted to pass the big rig.

The pontoon trailer began to sway, eventually striking the side of the big rig.

The pickup truck jackknifed and the pontoon separated from the trailer.

The big rig driver is identified as 66-year-old Fargo resident Bruce Radcliffe.

Radcliffe was not injured but Victor was treated for minor injuries at an area hospital and was released.

Westbound I-94 was closed for an hour while the scene was cleared.
