(Fargo, ND) -- West Fargo City Commissioner Mark Simmons is talking about the widespread use of fireworks in the city during this year's 4th of July celebrations.

"You know I thought it was a battleground too, quite honestly but the last thing honestly, like it or not for people, I did not want to make a rash decision last night and start banning stuff," said Simmons.

Despite his assessment, Simmons said the number of complaints received by the police department and calls for service to the fire department were not unusually high compared to years past.

Simmons said he is sympathetic to the safety concerns brought up by Fire Chief Dan Fuller during Monday night's commission meeting.

Fuller asked the commission to review the city's fireworks ordinance.

Simmons appeared on the Jay Thomas Show.
