(Fargo, ND) -- A former Jamestown priest has pled guilty to misdemeanor sexual assault.
Neil Joseph Pfeifer entered the plea Thursday morning, the same day his trial was scheduled to begin for a case in which he was accused of sexual exploitation.
Under the plea deal, Pfeifer will avoid jail time if he completes 50 hours of community service.
A felony charge of sexual exploitation by a therapist was dropped.
Pfeifer was arrested in February, 2023, after a woman reported committing sexual acts with him.
Pfeifer also served as a priest in Buchanan and Windsor.
