(Fargo, ND) -- The actions taken by Fargo Police Officer Zachary Robinson in shooting and killing a gunman last Friday are being described as heroic and life-saving.

"Three of his team members were immediately down and injured. He engaged that person as quickly as he could and end the threat, and him from killing or shooting anyone else. That was just outstanding work. As all of the details become available I think everyone is going to be able to really recognize the significance of that," said Police Chief Dave Zibolski.

Zibolski said Officer Robinson's ability to quickly shoot gunman Mohamad Barakat allowed fire crews to rapidly assist the downed officers.
