Fargo Police Chief: officer injured in shooting expressing desire to return to job

(Fargo, ND) -- Fargo Police Chief Dave Zibolski says Officer Tyler Hawes is already expressing a desire to get back on the job just days after he was seriously injured in last Friday's shooting on 25th Street South.

"He wants to come back to work," said Zibolski.

"A big thing I think for both of these guys is they are used to being here and doing stuff and now they've got these injuries they have to overcome.  So I think that's a struggle for them and we really need to make sure that we are supporting them and their families, and both of the families have been tremendous."

Officer Hawes and Officer Andrew Dotas are both in critical but stable condition, based on the most recent updates provided to WDAY Radio Now.

Zibolski said Hawes has made forward progress but said Dotas has challenges to overcome.
