Valley City Police receive tip, continue to try to ID man found in Sheyenne River

(VALLEY CITY) -- Valley City Police say a tip was received in regards to the male who was recovered from the Sheyenne River in Valley City earlier this week.

On Monday, Valley City Police and Fire were dispatched to the area of 1000 Riverview Drive on a report of a human body found in the Sheyenne River. Valley City Fire Department water rescue was able to recover a male body from the river. The subject has not been identified, but is described as a white male, approximately 30-40 years old, with dark short hair and a beard. He is approximately 5'8" to 5'10" tall, weighing approximately 200 pounds. He has no visible tattoos, and was wearing blue jeans and socks at the time.

Earlier Friday, authorities were told the man was last seen in the area of Main Street West and 8th Avenue Southeast, walking towards the east at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 15.

"At this time, we do have an image of the mail," authorities said in a press release. "We are still asking for the public's help in identifying the male."
