(Fargo, ND) -- North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley is talking about the legal device called a "binary trigger", which Mohamad Barakat used while unleashing a deadly hail of gunfire against Fargo police officers.

"It is not lost on me that this is a product, when combined with a perfectly lawful 2nd Amendment protected firearm, that's what they are, just like knives, and other deadly weapons, they can be used in illegal, horrific fashion.

The binary trigger allows a user to fire a round when a trigger is pulled and fires another bullet when the trigger is released.

Wrigley describes the device as being "without purpose".

Wrigley made the comment while appearing on the Jay Thomas Show.
