West Fargo Public Schools pursuing plan to add healthcare clinic for district employees

(Fargo, ND) -- West Fargo Public Schools is moving forward with a plan to build a healthcare clinic that would provide services exclusively to district employees.

"The idea is that we partner directly with a healthcare provider to do more routine, lower-cost, less complex types of healthcare," said district Business Manager Levi Bachmeier.
Bachmeier said the clinic, which will provide primary and urgent care, would lead to cost savings for the district totaling "hundreds of thousands of dollars".

The clinic would be located near Costco.

Bachmeier said the cost savings would occur as a result of cutting out the district's health insurance carrier, BlueCross BlueShield.

He says the district spends more than $23 million on its insurance fund each year.
