Fire displaces apartment tenants in Grand Forks

(GRAND FORKS) -- A fire has displaced tenants of an eight-unit apartment building in Grand Forks.

Grand Forks Fire Department officials say the fire broke out Thursday night at 3722 Berkeley Drive in Grand Forks. Crews arrived on scene to find smoke coming from the two-story apartment building. Crews entered the structure, located and extinguished a firer in the kitchen area in a unit on the upper floor. The unit suffered fire and smoke damage, with smoke damage spreading throughout the entire complex.

The cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental in nature, due to unattended cooking. All occupants were displaced and are being assisted by University of North Dakota Housing.
