Burgum says he wants to talk about the future of the country and not 2020 election

(Fargo, ND) -- North Dakota Governor and GOP presidential candidate Doug Burgum says he wants to talk about the future of the country and not about the 2020 election.

"When we are out talking to voters in Iowa and New Hampshire they're not asking about the indictments. If they want to they can turn on a cable news network and watch that seven by 24," said Burgum.

Speaking on ABC's This Week, Burgum acknowledged for the first time during his campaign that President Biden won the 2020 election.

However, he sidestepped questions about Thursday's indictment of former President Trump, saying only "Everybody's innocent until proven guilty."

Burgum also said he would rather be talking about "energy, (the) economy and national security."
