(Medora, ND)  --  A lack of rain could take a toll on fall leaf-viewing season in parts of North Dakota.

With 36-percent of the state in drought, the lack of rain stresses trees and could lead to an earlier and shorter window of fall colors.

The state's tourism and marketing director recommends seeing the best colors in the Turtle Mountain area, Medora, and the rest of the Badlands region for some great viewing right now.

ND-tourism-dot-com lists the best views of fall scenery in the state this week.
