(Valley City, ND) — The Valley City Police Department has a new chief.

Nick Horner has been appointed as the Chief of Police for the City of Valley City. His appointment was made official Tuesday at the Valley City City Commission meeting. The Commission voted 4-1 on the appointment.

Horner previously served as a patrol sergeant and a community relations sergeant for the Valley City Police Department. Prior to joining Valley City Police, he worked for Renville County.

Horner is a Valley City native. He replaces Phil Hatcher, who retired in August after 16 years with the Valley City Police Department.
