Hoeven confirms tourist group is in Jordan, working on return to the United States

(Fargo, ND) – Senator John Hoeven has confirmed the tourist group of parishioners from multiple area parishes are now in Jordan.

“We have been in contact with the State Department since this weekend’s terrorist attacks by Hamas, and today spoke with Secretary Bitter along with Senator Cramer, to ensure there is a plan to safely bring this group home to North Dakota. The State Department committed that the ambassador’s office will directly contact the group and assist them in securing flights out of the region. We also spoke with Father Ackerman to coordinate with him, and we are relieved that the group has now made their way to Jordan,” Hoeven said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.

Some members of the group anticipate they’ll be on the ground in North Dakota as soon as Thursday this week.
