Charges filed in weekend Walsh County shots fired incident

(Grafton, ND) – A Pisek man is set to appear this morning for a bond hearing, after he was arrested Saturday near Lankin, in rural Walsh County, where authorities were investigating a shots fired call.

According to court documents, authorities were called on Saturday at approximately 7:30 p.m. to a residence in rural Lankin in regards to shots fired. When the deputy arrived on scene, the victims were visibly shaking. They advised authorities that a silver car, similar to the car the defendant, George J. Tibert, drove west on County Road 15 by the residence at a slow rate of speed. The car had driven eastbound a few minutes later. The vehicle started shooting towards the house while driving by, and then left the scene.

Authorities observed four bullet holes in the exterior of the residences, of which two had penetrated the inside of the house. One went through the living room window, where one victim was standing within a foot of where the bullet went through. Another victim was sitting on the living room floor when the bullets came through the house. That victim had glass from the window hit their face. The third victim was upstairs, where another bullet had gone through the upper portion of the house.

Five empty shell casings were found on County Road 15, across from the victim’s home.

Deputies later found the suspect and located empty shell casings, similar to those located near the victim’s residence.

George Tibert is facing three Class C Felony charges of reckless endangerment with extreme indifference.
