(West Fargo, ND) – A West Fargo woman is facing terrorizing charges after an incident at a West Fargo home last week.

According to court documents, West Fargo Police officers were dispatched to a location for a disturbance. Upon arrival, authorities met with a large group of juveniles. The juveniles stated they had been playing in the yard of one of their neighbors, in the 1500 block of 11th Avenue East.

While playing in the yard, one of the residents, later identified as Mackenzie Brooke Knowlen, arrived at the residence with her mother. After getting out of their vehicle, Knowlen went to the trunk of the vehicle and retrieved dog food, and began yelling at the juveniles, calling them racial slurs.

She then entered the home and exited shortly thereafter, holding what was described as a black handgun. The juveniles stated Knowlen had told them she had a gun, at which time they ran from the residence.

Court documents say Knowlen stated that she ‘had a bad day,’ and, upon returning to her residence, she had observed the juveniles fooling around in her driveway and yard, playing on the electrical box and preventing her from pulling into the driveway. She admitted to yelling racial slurs.

Knowlen said she retrieved a gun and placed it in her pocket “because she was concerned about the juveniles.”

Knowlen was charged with a Class C Felony of terrorizing with a dangerous weapon-child victim. She was ordered held on $15,000 cash or bond.

Cass County Jail officials say Knowlen was not in custody as of early Monday afternoon.
