(Grand Forks County, ND) -- A Minnesota man has been sentenced to 180 days of electronic home monitoring for causing a fatal crash in Grand Forks County.
The deadly wreck happened last September, when 21-year-old Fertile, Minnesota resident Tyson Horton was driving along Grand Forks County Road 7. His vehicle veered into the oncoming lane of traffic and crashed head-on into a car, killing 42-year-old Thomas McWaters. Prosecutors say the crash was caused in part by an eye injury sustained by Horton in a fight from the previous day, causing him to not to be able to see properly due to the injury.
Horton pleaded guilty to negligent homicide on Monday and was sentenced will also serve two years of supervised probation.
