(Fargo, ND)  --  A new outreach program for veterans will allow them to stay in sheltered housing longer than in past years.

The Department of Veterans Affairs has teamed up with the New Life Center to create the Passport Program which allows veterans to stay in the center's shelter longer and will help them transition to permanent housing.

The length of those stays varies but can last up to two years.

There are 12 beds reserved for veterans in the program.
