(Grand Forks, ND) -- A jury has found 40-year-old Kindi Jalloh of Grand Forks guilty of murder and tampering with evidence.

Jalloh was charged with murdering 67-year-old Douglas Elgert, whom he had been living with at the time. In May of 2022, Elgert was found stabbed and beaten to death inside the apartment he and Jalloh were living in. Jalloh claimed he threw away bloody evidence out of fear of being charged with a crime he didn't commit, while prosecutors say he killed Elgert after he was told he couldn't live with Elgert anymore.

Jalloh is set to be sentenced on January 8th, 2024.
