Clay County Law Enforcement investigating shots fired late Wednesday night

(Moorhead, MN) -- The Clay County Sheriff's Office says shots were fired at a 9-1-1 caller in Moorhead around just before Midnight on Wednesday.

Authorities say a caller reported a vehicle was being broken into at 2751 8th Avenue North in Moorhead, and the reported suspect then left the scene. The caller followed the suspect in their own vehicle and was shot at twice in the area of 70th Street and 28th Avenue North. The caller then returned home and made the report to authorities. The investigation into the incident is ongoing and authorities believe there is not threat to the public. The suspect vehicle is described as a Maroon Chevrolet Suburban.

Authorities say the caller was not struck by gunfire. No injuries were reported in the incident. 

Authorities urge residents to not follow suspects, and encourage you to immediately call 9-1-1 instead.
