(Fargo, ND) -- The Fargo Memorial Honor Guard says enough pallbearers have volunteered to help lay to rest an "unclaimed veteran".

"That means he has no immediate family, a brother, sister, mother, anybody to take him through the burial process. So unfortunately, sadly, the Fargo Memorial Honor Guard, we get several unclaimed veterans yearly," said Honor Guard spokesman Tom Krabbenhoft.

Krabbenhoft says family members of deceased veteran Vernon Gutenkunst have been located and just recently contacted.

The 70-year-old died November 29th in Valley City.

The public is invited to attend the burial Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Fargo National Cemetery.
