(Fergus Falls, Minn.) — A western Minnesota school district is ending the school day early ‘out of an abundance of caution,’ after multiple schools received phone calls threatening the safety and well-being of the schools.
According to a statement from Fergus Falls Superintendent Dr. Jeff Drake, at approximately 12 p.m. Monday, three schools received the calls — KSS, a middle and high school; Adams School, serving grades one and two; and Cleveland School, serving grades three and four.
“Specifically, the unidentified caller threatened to shoot through the school's windows,” Dr. Drake said in a statement. The district immediately went into a Code Red lockdown and 9-1-1 was called. The Fergus Falls Police Department dispatched officers to each of the district's school buildings.
“All students and staff are safe,” Drake said. Law enforcement are still present in each of the school buildings.
