Longtime American Legion Baseball coach identified as victim in deadly house fire

(Fargo, ND) -- The Moorhead Police Department has identified the 73-year-old man who died in a house fire last Thursday.

It was longtime American Legion Baseball coach Steven Timmer.

The blaze broke out at ten o'clock in the morning in the 2000 block of 56 Avenue North.

Investigators say the blaze started in the home's kitchen area.

Timmer was found dead inside the house.

The coroner's provisional report indicates the cause of death was soot and smoke inhalation.

A final autopsy report is pending.
