(Fargo, ND) -- Official with Cass County Public Health says a majority of Cass County businesses recently passed while being tested for tobacco compliance.

Tobacco compliance checks were performed on March 14th.

A total of 17 businesses were checked and 14 passed, resulting in an 82% compliance rate.

Several times each year, FCPH partners with local law enforcement agencies to carry out tobacco compliance checks in Fargo, West Fargo, and Cass County.

An agency representative said the intent of the checks is to ensure tobacco retailers are not selling any tobacco to people under the age of twenty-one.

Licensed tobacco retailers are encouraged to periodically review city ordinances and state laws related to sale of tobacco products and to include this information when training new employees.
