(Moorhead, MN) -- A shelter house for adult males in the F-M Metro is closing due to financial concerns and a dip in donations.

The announcement was made by Churches United, who say the Dorothy Day House will close as late as May 3rd. The home currently serves as shelter for 15 adult men, who need to find a new place to stay. Staff members currently assigned to the building will be relocated to other operations run by Curches United.

"This is a regrettable decision for all of us at Churches United," said Chief Executive Officer Pastor Sue Koesterman. "Our first and foremost priority is to operate in a fiscally prudent manner. And currently we can no longer afford to continue to operate the Dorothy Day House given our current levels of funding [...] The needs are greater than ever."

Koesterman says record numbers of individuals and families are seeking services at their locations across the FM Metro, including Micah's Mission, the Dorothy Day Food Pantries in Moorhead and West Fargo, and the Bright Sky Apartments.

Churches United hopes the end of services is a temporary one.
