Fargo city officials announce road closures, other details surrounding Fargo Marathon

(FARGO, ND) – Ahead of this weekend’s Fargo Marathon festivities, Fargo city officials are reminding the public of road closures and parking restrictions in effect through Saturday.

On Friday, 2nd Street South, between Main Avenue and 4th Street South, and 4th Street South, between 2nd Street South and 6th Avenue South, will be closed from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.

On Saturday, University Drive, between 19th Avenue North and 17th Avenue North, will be closed from 6:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Broadway, between 1st Avenue North and 4th Avenue North, will be closed from 7:15 a.m. until 1 p.m. 13th Avenue South, between 10th Street South and 6th Street South, will be closed from 7:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. 10th Street North, at the 17th Avenue intersection, will be closed from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Additionally, no street parking will be permitted on Broadway, between 1st Avenue North and 4th Avenue North.

Motorists wishing to travel on 13th Avenue South, between 10th Street south and 6th Street South, are asked to use Main Avenue. Residents looking to travel on 10th Street North at the 17th Avenue North intersection are asked to use the detour provided via 18th Street South.

On Saturday, June 1, Fargo VA Health Care System patients should use 19th Ave. N. to access the facility. Fargo Police Officers will assist traffic with crossing at 3rd St. N. during the races. After 9:30 a.m., 19th Ave. N. will be fully reopened to traffic.

Hector International Airport will be accessible from Interstate 29 on Saturday, June 1; downtown traffic should use Main Avenue to I-29 to travel to the airport.

In addition to these major street closures, there will be many smaller neighborhood roads impacted. Residents and visitors are advised to plan alternative routes and expect delays in the vicinity of the marathon and other races. Law enforcement personnel will be stationed to assist with traffic control and to ensure the safety of participants and spectators.
