Fargo Police Chief: crackdown on street racing and dangerous driving to include seizing vehicles

(Fargo, ND) — Fargo Police Chief Dave Zibolski says he has a plan to crackdown on street racing, loud mufflers, and dangerous driving on city streets.

“It’s a public safety issue it’s also a quality of life issue from the racing and just the dangerous driving, exhibition driving, things like that, to the loud or illegal exhaust systems that people have on their cars, sometimes on the motorcycles, along with the increase in fleeing vehicles that we are seeing as well,” said Zibolski.

Zibolksi made the comments during a press briefing Monday afternoon at the Fargo Police Station.

The chief says his plan includes taking possession of vehicles and declaring them a public nuisance.

Zibolski is also calling for higher fines for traffic violations and additional support from the state legislature to address the issue.
