Metro area schools call off classes due to weather

FARGO, N.D. / MOORHEAD, MINN. – Schools across the metro have cancelled in-person learning Friday ahead of a powerful winter storm forecast.

The following school announcements have been received by Flag Family News:

  • West Fargo: There will be no instructional expectations for learners, virtual or otherwise. This means that all district facilities will be closed, and all activities (including all programs, meetings, trainings, rentals, practices, and contests) have been cancelled. This day of instruction will be made up on Monday, April 6, 2026.
  • Moorhead: All Moorhead public and non-public schools, including Community Education classes, are closed on Thursday, December 18, 2025. Moorhead Area Public School students in grades E-12 are required to complete an eLearning day. All before-school, after-school and evening activities are canceled.
  • Fargo: Due to forecasted weather conditions, all Fargo Public Schools classes and extra-curricular activities are canceled for Thursday, December 18, including the Early Childhood Special Education preschool program and Adult Learning Center. Due to the cancellation, FPS will use the storm make up day built into the school calendar of Monday, April 6; students and staff will be expected to be in school on April 6.
  • NDSU: NDSU will be closed Thursday, December 18.   Only designated essential personnel are to report to work.
